Yesterday of the Beatles!

My eye fell on the following two challenges, both having a vintage theme and "More than Words" has the word Yesterday

The first thing I think of when I see the word Yesterday is the Beatles and their number 1 hit  "Yesterday" and since this hit dates between 1963-1965, I decided to use a picture of the Beatles with Yesterday on it for my Vintage layout.

This is the fabulous moodboard of 7 Dots Studio, loving the vintage feeling and the serene look of it. Had to enter these two amazing challenges!!

So let me tell you what I did and used to make this Mixed Media layout:

I started with this photo of the Beatles and a sheet of Craft Sensations paper that looks like a film strip and then added some gesso on it. Then I applied the modeling paste with the "Burlap" and "Arrows"mask, which I sprinkled with different colors of embossingpowder before the modeling paste was dry. After that I added some different colors of Tattered Angels Ink on the gesso and between de modeling paste.Stamped here and there with some black ink with the script stamp at the 12 x 12 inch paper.
Then I continued to create layers on my paper, so there would appear some depth in my layout. For this I used Prima paper and tags from 7 Dots Studio, which I added inkt on the edges. I made the filmstrips from a sheet of 7 Dots Studio Writersblock and I also added ink on the edges. So it seems a bit leathery. And behind the filmstrips I added some tissue paper, so it just look like if there was a film in the filmstrip.
And to finish the layout I added some tags, stars, tickets, etc.

Hope you like the outcome of my take on the moodboards!

Things I used:
  • Paper of Craft Sensations
  • 7 Dots Studio "Writersblock" paper and tags
  • Prima paper "Engraver Collection / Calligraphy"
  • Prima Finnabair Heavy Gesso
  • Pigment Modeling Paste
  • Black ink
  • Script stamp
  • Tattered Angels Spray; "Sunflower, Leap Frog and Suede"
  • Papermania embossingpowder; "Tinsel Snowflake, Gold and Copper"
  • Tim Holtz Distress ink; "Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo"
  • Tim Holtz Dies "Filmstrip Frames"
  • Tim Holtz mask "Burlap"(THS007) + "Arrows"(THS025)
  • Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Ephemera "Vintage"
  • Tim Holtz Tissue Wrap/paper "Melange"
